A lack of diagnosis for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with an increased chance of subsequent cardiovascular occurrences, hospitalizations, and fatalities. We sought to determine the connection between undiagnosed obstructive sleep apnea and subsequent hospital admissions in older adults with pre-existing cardiovascular disease in this study. A 5% subset of Medicare administrative claims data for the period 2006-2013 was the basis of this retrospective cohort study. Inclusion criteria included beneficiaries with a CVD diagnosis and a minimum age of 65 years.
